What to Expect

Little Love Studios

We know that prepping for your newborn session can feel daunting, especially when you dont know what you're getting yourself into. This is one of the many reasons that Little Love Studios comes to you, to photograph your new baby in your own home, eliminating the pressure of rushing to get ready and out the door.We want this to be a peaceful, memorable experience and with that in mind we have put together a few tips on what to expect for your portrait session.

Please set aside some of your favorite tiny little things. Tutus, headbands, hats, diaper covers, baby ties, flowers, jewelry, shoes, etc. if you have a favorite blanket, stuffed animal, book, toy, pillow, etc. please feel free to set that aside too. Don't have anything? Don't worry! We bring a full wardrobe and prop collection to you for your session.

If you have a profession or hobby that you want represented in the photos (fire helmet and boots for firemen, skateboard, guitar, handcuffs for police officers, etc.) please set those items aside as well. These kinds of pictures are super fun and meaningful.

Please plan to feed your baby right as I arrive to your home while I am setting up. This way your baby will have a nice full tummy for our session. It's really great if you can avoid feeding and keep your baby awake for at least two hours prior to this feeding. Its best to plan your session for a time of day when your newborn usually naps. The fun baby poses are easiest to accomplish with a sleepy baby in a milk coma. This is also most easily accomplished in the first 7-10 days of life. Newborn sessions may be booked after this window, but please understand that some posing as well as expressions may be limited, and your baby may be fussier and less pleased with being photographed.

For older babies and toddlers, plan for a time after or well before their usual nap to avoid sleepy and cranky expressions. You know your baby best, so if feeding beforehand produces a happy and calm child, please do so. If your child gets groggy and tired after a feeding, maybe choose to hold off.

As far as attire Your newborn will be cutest in his or her naked little birthday suit, so planning outfits isnt necessary. A white onesie is a good idea to have on hand, though. For older babies and toddlers, plan to bring about 3 outfits your favorite one, a neutral one, and a somewhat fancy one. Make sure a plain white onesie is included in there somewhere.

For Mom and Dad Please plan to wear a plain black t-shirt as well as a softer colored outfit (pinks, soft blues, olive green, cream, brown, etc.)

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact the studio. We are here to help make sure this is an amazing experience that will leave you with the most precious photos of your new family.
